ACTOR Keith Allen opened Painswick Ruby Club's Fun Day on Sunday.

The day started with a car boot sale at 8am, with the fun day gates officially opened at noon.

At 12.45pm teams fought it out in 'It's a Knockout' to win a cup, with Painswick Rugby Club coming first and Stroud District Council coming second. They competed in tug-of-war, welly wanging, and a bouncy assault course.

During the day there were lots of activities happening around the field including hook the duck, The Great Painswick Treasure Hunt, lucky dip, barbeque, tin can alley, bric-a-brac and much more.

Angela Hathaway, one of the organisers, said: "It was an amazing day, the weather was lovely and everyone had a really good time. We were quite lucky because as soon as we began to pack up it started to rain.

"About 300 people came, which is a really good turnout."

A highlight of the day was the Cotswolds 88 Hotel Promise's auction in which local companies and people had donated many items. Lots included a night in a suite and a three course dinner for two at The Cotswolds 88 Hotel and a 30 minute helicopter flight for two.

Angela says: "Everyone enjoyed the banter at the auction and seemed to have a great time."

Money raised at the fun day, which is still being counted, will go to Painswick Rugby Club and the Pied Piper Appeal which helps sick children in Gloucestershire.
