A GROUP of Arlingham farmers recently took part in a mighty plough-a-thon challenge turning acres into thousands of pounds as part of a charity fundraiser.
The mammoth challenge took place on a 48 acre field next to the banks of the River Severn in the village starting at 2pm on Saturday, April 20.
The inspiring team involved Dave Davies, Ant Rymer and Dallas Andrews as well as Chris Shield, Dave Merrett and Nick Ineson.
The group was also supported by 12 fellow ploughing enthusiasts to maintain a minimum of three tractors ploughing at all times.
The challenge eventually finished at 2pm Sunday, April 21 raising more than £15,000 for Longfield Hospice and The Arlingham Church Trust.
The 14th-century church requires an estimated £300,000 for a new roof.
The event also included tractor rides, a children’s disco, homemade cakes, a BBQ, live music and a bar.
